Eurasian Spoonbill
About the Eurasian Spoonbill
Also known as: White Spoonbill, Common Spoonbill, Spoonbill
Eurasian Spoonbills are large wading birds found in parts of Eurasia and North Africa. Breeding adults are beautiful in bright white plumage, with a yellow breast patch, and dark legs and bill. The long spoon-shaped bill has a yellow tip in breeding season. They also grow long, beautiful head plumes. The sexes look alike.
Eurasian Spoonbills, called Common Spoonbills throughout part of their range, prefer wetlands and marshy areas for feeding and nesting.
